Goin' Back to Cali

Hillary and I are headed to San Diego this weekend. The weather will probably suck, but it can't be worse than it is here. We're headed to San Francisco on Monday, for an oral argument in front of the California Court of Appeal. The weather won't be much better there, either.

I have a companion pass through Southwest, which lets a person of my choice fly with me for free, wherever I go. You need a ton of miles to get one, but once you do, it's awesome.

So, I ran a mile today...

Haven't done that in a while. It feels good. Now that it's over, anyway. And no, it wasn't on one of Tony Little's Gazelles.

I'm trying to get back in shape, or at least get back into a more healthy shape. My torso used to be shaped like a "V" during high school. It's been a "U" for a while. I'm hoping to head "O" off at the pass.

It's hard to find the time to get to the gym, but I've just gotta do it. My brother Matt lost something like 60 pounds this year. I'll be satisfied with 15.

New Lens

I'm getting a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens for my D40. I've heard it's a
better focal length for DX DSLRs. It's faster than my old Nikon 50mm
f/ 1.8, but more importantly, it autofocuses on my D40.

I saved some money by going from my D80 to my D40, buy the savings was
burned up by the new Sigma lens. We'll see if the lens works out as
well as I hope.
