I'm not one for quoting Donald Trump very often, but...

"Watch somebody sell their used car and not wash it. You can spend $10 washing the car and get another $200 for the car." -Donald Trump

While we're on the subject of Craigslist...

Loanables is a great idea. It allows people to list items they have for rent at a set price per day/week, etc. Other people can browse or search for items they need. It's a great way to save or make money, depending on your side of the transaction.

For example, if you have a powerwasher, you probably only use it once or twice per year. The rest of the time it sits in your garage. With Loanables, you can rent it out when you're not using it, saving the other guy money, and simultaneously helping you offset its cost.

Here's the dealbreaker: not enough people use it.

The closest item I could find to Kansas City was in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. That's 556 miles from my house, according to Google Maps. Apparently some markets are well represented, like Austin, TX, Round Rock, TX, and yes, Beaver Dam.

I think it's a great idea, but unless the word gets out, and people start using it, it's doomed to fail. Craigslist could make this type of thing sing, if it just added a "For Rent" section.

Craigslist Action

I swapped my GPS this morning for an electrical socket inside my office closet. I found a guy who's good at electrical work, and I'm good at finding ridiculously low-priced electronics. Worked out well for both of us. Credit goes to Craigslist.

Batman!

Looks good. I plan to see it this weekend. I'm watching Batman Begins, to get warmed up.

Back from Michigan

I came back to Kansas City today, and in a neat little twist, so did Hillary. She initially planned to return Wednesday, but ended up catching an earlier flight that got us both home tonight. I wasn't looking forward to spending even more time without her, so it was nice for me.

One more HDR

The lane behind Hillary's Grandpa's house.

New iPhone firmware

It's installing as I type. It looks like there are a few must-have applications for me. Namely eBay and PayPal. Also, the Exchange support will be awesome, but I probably won't be able to get it going until I get back to the office next week.

Pics from Michigan

Hillary and I are up on Lake Leelanau in Michigan. Hope you enjoy the pics. The first three are HDR's.

Hillary's Grandpa's boat.

Hillary's parents' house.

Hillary's Uncle Dan's cabin.

These are Hillary's Mom's flowers. Notice I didn't comment on each one individually. Because that would be stupid.

Headed to Leelanau

I land around 2:00 pm. I'll try to update this blog and my Smugmug
page with pics as I get them.

Well...

Since Hillary spilled the beans, I'm proud to announce to those of you who don't yet know, we're expecting a baby in February.
