Check out this AP article:
"I remember President Bush saying to me one time in the Oval Office — and he was a great guy, enjoyed being with him. He said to me, he said, 'Well, Joe,' he said, 'I'm a leader,'" Biden recalled.
"And I said, 'Mr. President, turn around and look behind you. No one's following.'"
Apparently Karl Rove pointed out that it never happened:
"I hate to say it, but he's a serial exaggerator.* If I was being unkind, I'd say he's a liar. ... You'll notice every one of these incidents has the same structure. Joe Biden courageously raises the impudent question. The president befuddledly answers, and Joe Biden drives home the dramatic response. And I mean, it just — it's his imagination. It's a made-up, fictional world. He ought to get out of it and get back to reality."
Then the DNC gets involved:
"Given how overwhelmingly voters rejected his brand of attack politics last fall, it's surprising that the GOP would continue to trot out Karl Rove as its top spokesman," said Democratic National Committee press secretary Hari Sevugan. "You'd think they'd want to move on, but unfortunately it seems that the Republican Party continues to be stuck in the past."
I thought voters also rejected lying last year?
I'm no fan of Bush, and I'm certainly not a fan of Karl Rove, but how else would you describe Biden's remarks other than "attack politics"? Also, when you're the sitting VP, bragging about sparring with a former president on CNN smacks of being "stuck in the past", and a fictional one at that.

Gotta be honest, this seems like a non-issue to me.
But if we are going to debate it, shouldn't someone at least point out the irony in Karl Rove calling anyone a liar?
Yes, we do need to get over it. Biden and Rove are both chock full of hyperbole. I have no idea why Biden is on TV posturing like he was the only one who stood up to Bush. But I do know we have much bigger fish to fry.
